Product details
Liquorice root cut (also known as chopped liquorice) is widely used in Australia as a natural supplement for horses to support respiratory health and soothe digestive issues.
Benefits for Horses
Respiratory Support: Helps clear airways, eases coughing, and breaks up phlegm.
Digestive Health: Soothes mucosal linings, making it useful for horses with gastric ulcers or mild gastrointestinal discomfort.
Adrenal Support: Contains glycyrrhizin, which helps protect and restore adrenal function, particularly during stress or recovery.
Feeding Guidelines & Cautions
Dosage: A standard maintenance dose for a 500kg-600kg horse is typically 20g–40g per day (roughly 1–2 tablespoons).
Duration: Do not feed for more than 3 consecutive months, as long-term use can deplete potassium levels and raise blood pressure.
Contraindications: Avoid giving to pregnant mares as it may affect hormone levels. Do not use alongside potassium-depleting diuretics or digoxin-based drugs.
